Screenprinting, Part II

Looks like this is going to be the first print in our screenprinting experiment. Art provided by "the letter z" and printed on transparency film to burn onto screen.

Nominal

I've got nothing new to report except for the phone line was finally installed yesterday (still no DSL line). Dana on the other hand is making her self at home with the space. Pics above.

Share and Share Alike

Twenty-two yr-old Dana is the new resident at Space:512. She's a recent graduate of Rhode Island School of Design and a very talented textile designer/fine artist. The above photo is a sample of her work. We hope to work on some collaborations together over the next few months but more importantly our efforts will be focused on the space's grand opening.

What's in a logo?

Spray painted this red square in the white space left between Frank's canvases and his paints. The site's address came to mind for blue and voila a possible logo. Your thoughts?

Screenprinting, Part I

I've finally completed the frame (after two trips to the hardware store). Screen, screws, hinges and all. Now I'm on to burn my first screen. Any advice would be appreciated -- including what to print first.

Seven Days Later

I've been able to make some progress over the last few days. I've met a possible candidate that could share the space. I'll know more tomorrow.

In the mean time here are the first set of photos. It's a clean slate, nothing more.

It's Official

The space is mine. Frank is out. I am in (sort of).

I brought a few boxes over this evening before having to get my daughter. Nothing major: some posters, a stereo, cleaning stuff, and silkscreen materials. I'm excited, anxious, and nervous, but mostly I fear not being able to live up to my own expectations and standards.

The space is a beautiful 1,000 sq ft commerical loft. White concrete walls, high ceiling, gallery lights, loft overhang, the works...

I'll use this blog to post updates on any progress or experiments I make over the course of my stay at five twelve.
